Job Description
NxtGen Security is hiring a dependable, professional, and well-presented Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer for a consistent weekly assignment in the Boston area.
This position combines one overnight patrol shift at a private campus location in Cambridge with two evening security shifts at an upscale restaurant in Boston’s Back Bay area.
For client confidentiality and security purposes, exact post locations will be shared with qualified candidates during the interview process.
This is a strong fit for someone who is reliable, alert, professional in appearance, comfortable working independently, and able to represent NxtGen Security in both a quiet overnight patrol environment and a high-end guest-facing environment.
Important Schedule Details
For the Friday and Saturday restaurant shifts, the officer is expected to remain on site until the last guest leaves and management releases security for the evening. Some nights may end slightly earlier or later depending on business activity.
Officers will be paid through the scheduled shift end time if released early and will be compensated for any authorized time worked beyond the scheduled end time.
Parking and Transportation
Parking is available on site for the Cambridge overnight patrol assignment.
Parking is not provided for the Boston Back Bay restaurant assignment. Applicants must have reliable transportation and be able to commute to both Cambridge and Boston’s Back Bay area.
Cambridge Overnight Patrol Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled foot patrols of building exteriors, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter areas
Complete electronic checkpoint/tap verification during patrols
Check doors and access points to confirm they are secured after hours
Monitor for suspicious activity, alarm issues, open doors, safety concerns, property damage, lighting issues, or unusual conditions
Operate a marked NxtGen Security patrol vehicle on site as directed
Maintain a visible deterrent presence throughout the shift
Respond appropriately to alarms, safety concerns, medical issues, or other incidents
Complete clear and accurate daily shift reports
Communicate promptly with NxtGen Security supervisors and designated site contacts when needed
Back Bay Restaurant Security Responsibilities
Maintain a visible, polished, and approachable presence at the main access point
Greet guests professionally and respectfully
Support a safe and controlled environment without disrupting the upscale guest experience
Monitor guest flow, entrance activity, and general restaurant conditions
Conduct periodic checks of assigned interior and exterior areas as needed
Identify and report suspicious behavior, disturbances, loitering, trespassing, or other concerns
Use discretion, sound judgment, and de-escalation when addressing potential issues
Communicate with restaurant management and NxtGen Security supervisors regarding incidents or concerns
Remain on site until released by management at the end of the evening
Prepare accurate reports for incidents, observations, or actions taken
Uniform and Appearance Standards
NxtGen Security places a high emphasis on professional appearance, communication, and conduct.
For the Cambridge patrol assignment, NxtGen Security uniform gear will be provided.
For the restaurant assignment, the officer must provide and wear a clean black suit, black tie, black dress shoes, and maintain a polished appearance suitable for an upscale hospitality environment.
Requirements
Must be available Thursday overnight, Friday evening, and Saturday evening
Valid driver’s license required
Reliable transportation required
Must be able to commute to both Cambridge and Boston’s Back Bay area
Must be able to pass a background check, as permitted by law
Strong communication skills
Ability to write clear and accurate shift notes
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
Ability to work independently and remain alert during overnight hours
Professional appearance and customer-service mindset required
Ability to remain calm, composed, and respectful in guest-facing environments
Ability to follow post orders, company procedures, and client expectations
Prior security, hospitality, military, law enforcement, or customer-facing experience preferred
