Position Summary:
The Network Engineer is an integral role within the Network Engineering Department. As a Network Engineer, you are expected to have a solid foundation in network technologies, alongside a developing knowledge base that encapsulates network service provider technologies utilized to maintain policies based on industry standards groups like the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF). In this role, your primary focus is the remote management and support of equipment deployed at customer premises on behalf of WIN Technology's managed services customers. Through continued learning and hands-on experience, you can provide enhanced technical support to other WIN staff and work through complex problems while leading to a resolution. As you grow in this role, you will become able to anticipate areas of improvement and effectively communicate the need for changes and augmentations across managed customer environments. To be successful, you will remain current and informed on network product developments and broader IT industry trends in order to identify and apply emerging technologies to WIN's managed services portfolio. You will have a track record of superior interpersonal relations with both internal stakeholders and external customers. You will have a history of coordinating internal network and customer-based projects while managing multiple priorities and completing them on schedule. As a Network Engineer, you will have helped others achieve success through knowledge sharing and mentorship, and you will also be a leader in identifying areas of process improvement and championing company initiatives.
As a member of the Network Engineering Department, you will:

Become a subject matter expert in network technologies as they relate to WIN's managed services customers, with a particular focus on the remote lifecycle management of customer-premises Juniper equipment including MX Series routers and EX/QFX Series switches

Act in a consultative role based on operational experience and managed services best practices to both external customers and internal colleagues, helping translate technical findings into clear, actionable guidance

Assist in the design and engineering of customer-premises network solutions, supporting vital managed communication services such as voice, data, and video transmission delivered on behalf of WIN's customers

Remotely provision, configure, and manage devices deployed at customer sites, ensuring that all managed equipment operates within defined performance and security parameters
-
Participate in developing requirements to evaluate and integrate new technologies and managed services capabilities into WIN's existing service offering

Provide innovative solutions to common managed services challenges using a standards-based approach, working to resolve customer issues efficiently and with minimal service disruption

Handle various functions associated with the remote operation and maintenance of customer-premises network elements including, but not limited to, problem diagnosis and repair, software lifecycle management, traffic analysis, network capacity audits, and monitoring and alerting

Understand and communicate the appropriate applications for different transmission mediums (i.e. CAT6 cable, multi-mode fiber, single-mode fiber, etc.) as they connect to and interface with customer-premises hardware

Collaborate with the Network Management Center to develop and implement remote support tools and workflows for managing customer environments and provide escalated technical support for managed network systems

Provide courteous and professional communication in direct interactions with customers, recognizing that this role carries a high degree of ongoing customer visibility given its managed services focus

Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations for after-hours support of customer-premises network environments. You will also be an internal escalation resource for others on the engineering team on matters related to Juniper managed services

To further promote both the culture and industry leading technology at WIN, professional representation at trade shows and other business-related events may be required

Perform any additional job-related duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and provide our Members with industry leading customer service
Additional Position Requirements:

Proficiency in Junos OS including device configuration, basic troubleshooting, policy application, and CLI operation across customer-premises environments

Hands-on working experience with Juniper MX Series routers and EX/QFX Series switches in a managed or operational support capacity
-
Actively developing familiarity with Juniper Mist AI-driven networking platform, including cloud-based management workflows and AI-driven insights, with the expectation of growing proficiency in this area over time
-
Actively developing understanding of advanced Juniper routing protocols and architectures (BGP, OSPF, EVPN/VXLAN) as implemented within Junos, with current proficiency in foundational routing and switching concepts

Possess understanding of LAN-based routing and switching protocols as they apply to customer-premises deployments
-
Acquire an understanding of WAN-based transport technologies — including DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, and SD-WAN — as they integrate with customer environments

Assist in the design of custom managed network solutions for customers, coordinating across multi-vendor environments where applicable
-
Review technical details in draft customer contracts during the sales process, with particular attention to managed services scope

Comply with all customer Service Level Agreements during circuit implementation and ongoing managed services delivery on customer infrastructure

Monitor standard network performance metrics for customer-premises environments to support Service Level Agreement compliance

Perform functions related but not limited to remote installation, provisioning, operation, and management of customer-premises network elements
-
Provide the Network Management Center with technical support escalation for managed services customer environments
-
Perform regular audits of customer-premises systems to monitor capacity, resource usage, and analyze traffic patterns
-
Support Network Field Operations through direct involvement in troubleshooting and diagnosing customer-premises network issues
-
Provide direct customer assistance as required, maintaining a professional and responsive communication standard consistent with WIN's managed services commitments

Have the ability to explain advanced networking concepts in a way that non-technical persons can understand
Qualifications:
-
Possess a 4-year degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field combined with 4 years of experience in network technologies or applicable industry work experience

Demonstrated working proficiency with Juniper Networks platforms-specifically Junos OS and MX/EX/QFX Series hardware
-
Familiarity with remote network management practices and managed services delivery models is strongly preferred
-
A current Juniper certification (JNCIA-Junos or JNCIS-ENT) is a plus
Work Conditions/Equipment:
Most work is performed indoors. Physical activity consists of normal office work and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Both team-based work and self-driven tasks are expected to be balanced throughout the workday, with a significant portion of daily activity focused on remote monitoring and management of customer environments. Proficiency required in operating common business applications, remote management platforms, and office machines. While regular travel is not expected, occasional local and regional travel to customer premises may be necessary to complete a job task or assignment, particularly for on-site hardware installation or escalated troubleshooting.
