Position Summary
The Sauté Cook is responsible for preparing and executing entrées, sauces, and hot line items during service while maintaining quality, consistency, and speed. This position requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment.
The ideal candidate understands timing, communicates effectively, and takes ownership of their station from prep through cleanup.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute menu items according to recipes, specifications, and plating standards
- Manage ticket flow and prioritize orders during busy service periods
- Prepare sauces, proteins, vegetables, starches, and other hot line components as assigned
- Complete daily prep lists accurately and efficiently
- Maintain proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures
- Ensure all station items are stocked and service-ready before each shift
- Communicate effectively with chefs, cooks, food runners, and expo during service
- Monitor product quality and consistency throughout each shift
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation
- Assist other stations and kitchen team members as needed
Qualifications
- Previous sauté or line cook experience preferred
- Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques and food safety practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to multitask while maintaining quality standards
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
