Pharmacy Technician – Key Duties:
Prescription Processing & Customer Care
- Assist pharmacists in receiving, interpreting, and processing prescriptions with accuracy.
- Enter patient and prescription data into the pharmacy system, ensuring completeness and confidentiality.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers regarding prescription status, refills, and insurance coverage.
- Provide courteous, professional customer service at the counter and by phone.
Medication Preparation & Dispensing
- Prepare, count, and label prescription medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Select the correct medication, strength, dosage form, and quantity according to the prescription.
- Package and stage prescriptions for pharmacist verification and dispensing.
- Maintain will-call bins and ensure prescriptions are stored and retrieved in an organized manner.
Inventory & Ordering
- Assist with ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
- Conduct inventory counts and help monitor expiration dates.
- Report and help resolve shortages, recalls, and discrepancies promptly.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow state and federal pharmacy regulations, company policies, and HIPAA privacy rules.
- Adhere to controlled-substance handling procedures, including logging, counts, and secure storage.
- Support safety protocols for medication preparation, labeling, and storage.
Administrative & Team Support
- Process insurance claims, resolve rejections, and assist patients with coverage questions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy work environment.
- Support pharmacists in clinical services such as immunizations, MTM, or health screenings (where allowed by state law).
- Participate in ongoing training and contribute to team goals and performance metrics.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
