Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Daycare Assistant to join our early childhood education team. In this role, you will support the development and well-being of young children by assisting with daily activities, supervising children, and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children, possess relevant experience in childcare or preschool settings, and be committed to fostering positive growth and learning experiences for our young learners. Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children during playtime, learning activities, and daily routines to promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Assist with classroom management and implement age-appropriate educational activities aligned with early childhood curriculum standards.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times by adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean, organized environment.
- Support children's individual needs, including diapering, feeding, nap time, and behavioral guidance.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress, daily activities, and any concerns or updates.
- Follow mandated reporting laws and maintain confidentiality regarding children's information.
- Assist with classroom setup, cleaning, and maintaining educational materials and supplies.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by implementing individualized plans in collaboration with specialists when applicable.
- Participate in ongoing training related to child development, first aid (including pediatric first aid), CPR, behavior management, and other relevant topics.
Skills
- Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and age-specific teaching strategies.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR (including Pediatric First Aid) is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills for parent interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and implement behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws related to child safety and welfare.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
- Classroom management skills to create a positive learning environment.
- Patience, compassion, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with young children across various developmental stages including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 4 – 10 per week
