Golden Days Adult Day Center is looking for an energetic, creative, and compassionate Activities Director who truly enjoys working with older adults.
In this role, you'll get to know our members their personalities, interests, cultures, abilities, and what brings them joy and turn that into meaningful and engaging daily experiences that encourage socialization, independence, choice, creativity, physical activity, and cognitive stimulation.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging daily activities for individuals, small groups, and large groups, including music, arts and crafts, exercise, games, cognitive and memory activities, educational programs, cultural programs, outings, celebrations, and special events.
- Complete activity and interest assessments for new members and contribute to individualized care planning based on their interests, abilities, cultural backgrounds, and needs.
- Develop and maintain a monthly activity calendar that offers a variety of meaningful, culturally diverse, and inclusive programs.
- Adapt activities for members with different physical and cognitive abilities, including individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
- Monitor participation and engagement, gather feedback, and continually introduce new ideas to keep programming fresh and meaningful.
- Maintain required documentation, participate in care-plan meetings, and communicate changes or concerns to nursing and center leadership.
- Work closely with caregivers, activity aides, volunteers, and other team members to safely and effectively deliver programs and assist members as needed.
- Independently plan, organize, and execute the activity program while coordinating staff and resources needed for successful programming.
- Maintain organized activity areas, supplies, and equipment while helping create a welcoming, uplifting, stimulating, and fun environment every day.
Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of experience planning and leading activities in an Adult Day Center, assisted living, memory care, nursing home, senior living, or similar setting.
- Experience working with older adults and individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities, including Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
- Creative and energetic, with the ability to develop meaningful, engaging, and culturally diverse activities and events.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build genuine relationships with members, families, caregivers, and team members.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and priorities.
- Confident leading individual, small-group, and large-group activities for members with different interests, cultures, cognitive levels, and abilities.
- Ability to independently plan, organize, and execute an activity program with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate caregivers, activity aides, and volunteers.
- Compassionate, patient, dependable, and adaptable, with a genuine passion for creating positive experiences for older adults.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Activity Director training/certification preferred, or willingness to complete required training after hire.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Gerontology, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.
