Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Lead Dispatcher to coordinate transportation operations efficiently across our network. In this vital role, you will oversee dispatching activities, manage freight movements, and ensure seamless communication between drivers, clients, and internal teams. Your expertise will help optimize logistics workflows, improve service delivery, and support our company's growth.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the dispatch team to coordinate daily freight pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems such as Elite Extra.
- Utilize GPS and GIS tools to track vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve transportation planning efficiency.
- Manage inbound and outbound shipments by verifying schedules, coordinating with drivers, carriers, and warehouse staff for shipping & receiving operations.
- Communicate clearly with drivers via multi-line phone systems and maintain professional phone etiquette to address issues promptly.
- Analyze logistics data to identify opportunities for process improvements in supply chain operations and fleet management.
- Oversee the use of transportation management systems like Fleetio and Elite Extra for data entry, dispatching updates, and reporting.
- Maintain organized records of freight movements, driver logs, incident reports, and asset protection documentation.
Experience
- Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment.
- Strong knowledge of transportation planning principles including route optimization using GPS technology.
- Familiarity with supply chain processes, shipping & receiving procedures, and freight management.
- Proficiency with transportation management software.
- Excellent communication skills with phone call management expertise and professional phone etiquette.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
- Technical skills including data entry accuracy, typing speed, and experience with multi-line phone systems; familiarity with GIS, GPS tracking tools.
