About the Role
GDM-AE is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical engineering design and project delivery. This role will support work for Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare systems, Department of Defense (DoD) facilities, and other federal clients.
The ideal candidate is a technical leader and problem solver who can guide projects from concept through design and construction, while mentoring junior engineers and designers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design for healthcare and mission-critical facility projects, including VA and DoD installations.
- Manage projects from concept development through construction administration, ensuring schedule, budget, and quality objectives are met.
- Design and analyze power distribution systems, emergency power systems, and standby generation for healthcare and federal facilities.
- Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, fire protection, structural, and architectural disciplines.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Review and guide production of Revit and AutoCAD-based design documents, including drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Support development of construction documents, design reports, and technical narratives.
- Participate in site investigations, field verification, and client coordination meetings.
- Assist with resolving technical challenges and developing practical engineering solutions.
- Support construction-phase services including submittal reviews, RFIs, and site visits.
- Conduct QAQC reviews to ensure compliance and technical accuracy of deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, active in at least one state.
- 10–15+ years of electrical engineering design experience.
- Experience with power distribution systems, emergency power, and generator systems.
- Strong experience with Revit and AutoCAD for design and production.
- Experience working on healthcare facilities, laboratories, or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Proven ability to manage projects and lead small technical teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with VA, DoD, or other federal agencies.
- Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and healthcare facility design standards.
- Experience with backup power systems, electrical reliability, and critical infrastructure.
Additional Information
- Travel may be required periodically to project sites and VA facilities across the United States.

Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
