Full Job Description

Scope of Position

The purpose of this position is to provide individualized academic support to Lewis and Clark Community College students; specifically in English and writing. Key responsibilities include explaining difficult concepts and helping students with their homework or study skills.

Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)

Provide student-centered support by tutoring students in the Student Success Center to enhance success and retention, fostering confident and mastery of essential skills.
Assist students in and writing papers, promoting critical thinking and effective communication skills.
Implement targeted interventions for student identified as a risk of withdrawal, helping them stay engaged and achieve their goals.
Communicate with and refer students to appropriate student support services as determined by student need.
Help facilitate student support group activities such as study groups to encourage collaboration and peer learning.
Maintain accurate student contact records for all communication.
Assist in collection of student feedback through surveys and other tools to inform program enhancements that improve course completion rates.
Participate in self-assessment and professional development and support College-wide initiatives and serve on committees.
Assist students with general computer and printing needs within the computer lab.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Associate’s Degree required in English, writing, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and individual diversity and values.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, Blackboard, and other general software.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree
Experience tutoring college-age or adult education students.
