Opperman & Son, Inc . is a Sonoma County icon in the heavy duty truck sales, parts, and service industry. Our facility is located on 8 acres in the midst of Healdsburg's wine country. We are a full service center for the trucking industry offering new and used parts, body shop, repair shop, welding shop as well as equipment sales.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position reports directly to the Service Manager and Shop Supervisor.
Primary responsibilities include the repair and inspection of various types of cargo tanks, (ie: DOT 406 AND MC 306).
Duties include the use of acetylene and electrical equipment in the fabricating, welding, and cutting, of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in accordance with cargo tank regulations.
Review plans with Management and agree on repairs to be made Perform VKIP Inspections according to cargo tank regulations
Welded repair and pressure test on cargo tanks and required documentation
Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, bridge parts, and pressure vessels
Communicate with Management when repairs are needed beyond the original diagnosis Maintain daily records of time spent on each piece of equipment through time cards
Provide completed Parts Requisitions to Back Counter Parts person for parts needed
Remove, cleans, repairs, reinstall and adjust all vehicle components upon completion
Maintain immediate shop area used to be clean and free from safety hazards
Replace all Company tools used to the proper storage area Other duties as assigned
Education:
High School diploma or GED (Required) Qualifications:
1 to 3 years cargo tank repair experience (Preferred)
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required
Work Requirements:
Adhere to all safety rules, including the handling of hazardous materials
Repeated walking, bending, stooping, crawling, balancing, kneeling, crouching, and use of stools and ladders.
Able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Work on feet (stand or walk) for the assigned work shift
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, and airborne particles.

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
