Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care while ensuring the smooth operation of the dental clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including general dentistry, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, utilizing knowledge of medical imaging and anatomy.
- Manage patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and accurate medical documentation.
- Perform chairside assisting duties, including passing instruments and managing patient comfort during procedures.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Dentrix and Eaglesoft for efficient patient management.
- Conduct vital signs assessments and assist with pediatric dentistry as needed.
- Engage with patients to provide education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and assist with ordering as necessary.
- Collaborate with the dental receptionist for scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred, with a strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of four-handed dentistry techniques and infection control practices is essential.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is a plus, along with skills in medical coding and documentation.
- Ability to operate a 3D scanner for imaging purposes is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant training is preferred but not mandatory.
