Do you work in tech and want to give back? The Tech Futures Program is hiring a part-time instructor to bring real industry expertise into the classroom for high school students (grades 6-8 and 9–12). No teaching certificate required — your professional certification and industry experience are what we’re looking for.
This is a 10-month, part-time position (~15–20 hrs/week) delivering a project-based technology curriculum covering coding, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, AI, entrepreneurship, and career pathways. Students engage with real companies through field trips to industry site visits and a local college campus.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Deliver hands-on, project-based tech lessons to mixed-grade (9–12) students using a structured daily framework
- Facilitate differentiated small-group instruction for students at all levels (support, on-level, enrichment)
- Lead field trip preparation and debrief for 4 annual industry visits
- Guide students in building a year-long Tech Identity Portfolio and career readiness documents (résumé, professional introduction)
- Use exit ticket data to adjust instruction daily; collaborate with program staff on curriculum refinement
- Model professional behavior, industry standards, and growth mindset — connecting classroom content to real careers
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- Active professional tech industry certification
- 3+ years of professional experience in a tech-related field
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a tech field OR 5+ years in lieu of degree
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to teen learners
- Commitment to equity and working with diverse student populations
- Must pass Level 2 Florida background screening
Preferred
- Experience mentoring, training, or teaching others (any setting)
- Bilingual — Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Portuguese a plus
- Knowledge of Florida postsecondary pathways (dual enrollment, Bright Futures, FAFSA)
- Familiarity with VR/XR, Makerspace tools, or CTE programming
- Active professional network in FL tech, manufacturing, or semiconductor industries
Pay: Up to $53.57 per hour
