Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following:

Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.

Ability to identify interferences or discrepancies in plans and drawings.

Perform routine inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on marine equipment and vessels.

Diagnose mechanical system problems and determine necessary repairs.
-
Inspect propulsion systems and determine proper repair methods.
-
Perform rigging and removal of shafts and rudders.
-
Remove / install propellers; dye check and dial indicate shaft tapers.
-
Disconnect / reconnect couplings from shaft and output flange of transmission.
-
Perform engine alignments and related mechanical adjustments.
- Remove and replace cutlass bearings, seals, seacocks, ball valves, and hoses.
- Inspect, test, diagnose, and repair steering systems, hydraulic systems, cylinders, and rudder bearings.

Inspect, remove, and replace seals.
-
Test and diagnose steering systems and hydraulics.
-
Inspect struts and rudders and perform necessary repairs.

Removal and replacement of generators and rigging.
-
Perform work on steering systems, hydraulic systems, cylinders, and rudder bearings.

Understand shipyard operations and follow all company safety procedures and protocols, including proper utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE), while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of marine mechanical experience.

Knowledge of marine mechanical equipment and systems.

Knowledge of all running gear and drive lines.

Knowledge of cutlass bearings, shaft seals and the removal of.

Understanding of blueprints and drawings of systems and layouts.

Able to maneuver and fit in confined spaces while working with heavy equipment.
