Position: Full-Charge Bookkeeper – Restaurant Operations

About Us
Laurel Hardware Co. is a multi-location hospitality company operating several restaurants throughout Los Angeles. We are looking for an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper to take ownership of the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial reporting for four restaurant entities.
Position Overview
The Full-Charge Bookkeeper will oversee the complete bookkeeping cycle for four restaurant locations, with responsibility for maintaining accurate books, completing reconciliations, supporting month-end close, monitoring inventory and cost of goods, preparing financial reports, and coordinating with management and our external CPA team.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, hands-on, comfortable working across multiple entities, and experienced with restaurant or hospitality accounting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate books and general ledgers for four restaurant entities.
- Record and reconcile sales, deposits, merchant processing activity, payroll entries and other financial transactions.
- Complete monthly bank, credit card, loan, intercompany and balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Manage the month-end bookkeeping process and ensure accounts are accurate and ready for financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for management review.
- Review financial results and identify unusual transactions, discrepancies or variances requiring follow-up.
- Maintain accurate inventory and cost-of-goods records and work with operations to investigate material variances.
- Prepare and reconcile sales tax reporting and coordinate timely filings and payments.
- Maintain fixed-asset schedules and supporting documentation.
- Track and reconcile intercompany transactions among related entities.
- Monitor daily cash activity and assist with account transfers and other treasury-related bookkeeping as needed.
- Provide payroll support, including reviewing payroll information, recording payroll transactions and reconciling payroll accounts.
- Prepare 1099 information and assist with year-end accounting requirements.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with the AP team to ensure vendor activity is properly recorded in the general ledger.
- Coordinate with external CPAs and provide schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation as requested.
- Help identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reporting across the restaurant entities.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping or comparable accounting experience.
- Experience managing the books for multiple entities strongly preferred.
- Restaurant, hospitality or other high-volume operating environment experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting, general ledger accounting and month-end close.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with restaurant POS and inventory/accounting systems is a plus.
- Experience with Toast POS and Toast Payroll preferred
- Experience working with restaurant tip sheets and tip reconciliation preferred.
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to independently manage deadlines and competing priorities across multiple entities.
- Comfortable working collaboratively with operations, payroll, AP, management and external accounting professionals.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field preferred.

What Success Looks Like
The right person for this role will ensure that all four restaurant entities have clean, current and fully reconciled books; month-end reporting is completed accurately and on time; financial issues are identified before they become larger problems; and management can rely on the financial information being presented.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
