Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing engaging activity programs tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including memory care and dementia-friendly activities
- Coordinate resident events, outings, and recreational activities to promote social interaction and community involvement
- Support residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), ensuring comfort and participation during activities
- Maintain positive rapport with residents by building trust and understanding their preferences and needs
- Collaborate with team members to ensure activities align with care plans and facility policies
- Manage scheduling of activities efficiently to maximize resident participation and engagement
- Help with program development by tracking participation, gathering feedback, and suggesting improvements for ongoing activity offerings
Skills
- Experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior activity coordination within assisted living or nursing home settings
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia, geriatrics, and memory care best practices
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs and aging issues counseling with patience and empathy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for scheduling, documentation, and communication purposes
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care environments is highly desirable
- Demonstrated skill in resident rapport building, team leadership, and program development
- Familiarity with home & community care services and working within senior living facilities
