TITLE: Stationary Engineer, Class 4
POSTION TYPE: OPERATIONS
LOCATION: Hoover High School
HOURS: 5:30am - 2:00pm
SALARY: $23.73/hour
BASIC FUNCTION:
Operate, maintain and care for boilers and/or geothermal systems, and related mechanical heating, ventilation
and water treatment equipment within a facility or facilities within a complex as defined by the District. The
essential functions as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements
will vary depending on the needs of the operations department
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Operate high pressure and low-pressure boilers, geothermal systems, and maintain related mechanical
equipment.
2. Communicate with operations staff to ensure the facility is properly heated and ventilated.
3. Assist the custodial specialist in maintaining the facility.
4. Assist custodial specialist or building chief in performing preventative maintenance tasks, as needed.
5. Provide effective operating economy.
6. Observe all safety rules and regulations regarding boiler operations.
7. Carry out all policies and procedures as set forth for building personnel in operations.
8. Provide training to Stationary Engineer assistant.
9. Assist with snow removal or other exterior duties as assigned.
HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required Education and Experience:
1. One year of successful custodial experience.
2. Certified Pool Operators license in buildings with a swimming pool or ability to obtain the license within
120 days of job assignment.
Desired:
1. Practical working knowledge of boiler room/geothermal system operations and related equipment
2. Leadership and organizational abilities
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
1. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
2. Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of a computer and Microsoft Office tools.
3. Working knowledge of good housekeeping practices and procedures and ability to operate cleaning equipment.
4. Knowledge of boiler room/geothermal system operations and related equipment.
5. Leadership skills.
6. Ability to complete mandatory training sessions.
7. Ability to stay organized.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Constant standing, walking, frequent bending/stooping/ reaching/ pushing/pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs and carrying 30 ft. Occasional use of telephone and computer, driving & climbing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequently working inside and outside and exposure to extremes of temperature/humidity
