Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated Core Logging Geologist to work on-site for one of our valued clients in the mining industry. This role involves hands-on geological work in dynamic mining environments, ensuring safety, accuracy, and efficiency in all tasks. This position will support the exploration drilling campaign through the safe and accurate logging, sampling, and interpretation of diamond core and reverse circulation (RC) drill data. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound technical judgment, and strict adherence to safety and environmental standards while following all company and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work safely and responsibly to prevent harm to self and others.
- Understand and follow verbal and written work instructions and safety procedures.
- Operate on-road and off-road vehicles safely.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) correctly.
- Identify, control, and report safety or environmental hazards.
- Collaborate with the Geology team to execute surface and underground exploration drilling programs
- Perform detailed geologic and geotechnical logging of diamond drill core for brownfield and near-mine programs
- Log and interpret RC chips from surface exploration drilling
- Support core processing activities, including photography, sampling, and material handling
- Prepare, organize, and submit samples to external assay laboratories in accordance with established protocols
- Enter geological, geotechnical, and spatial data into AcQuire and related systems
- Validate and verify data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and database integrity
- Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures, including standards, blanks, and duplicates
- Compile and synthesize geological data to support interpretation, modeling, and reporting
- Maintain safe, organized, and efficient work practices in core shed and field environments
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support exploration activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Geology or related field required
- 2–4 years of exploration or mine geology experience required
- Experience logging diamond drill core and RC chips required
- Experience working in active mining or mineral exploration environments preferred
- Familiarity with Carlin-type deposits preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and geological data management systems required
- Experience with AcQuire preferred
- Experience with Leapfrog or similar geological modeling software preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs throughout the day.
- Previous mining experience and Surface MSHA certification preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
