VARSITY BASEBALL HEAD COACH
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
Notre Dame College Prep, a Catholic, all-boys high school founded in the Holy Cross tradition, located in Niles, Illinois, is seeking a well-qualified head varsity baseball coach. The baseball head coach is appointed by the Principal and serves under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director. The baseball head coach is responsible for the total planning and development of an athletic program that prepares student athletes to represent Notre Dame College Prep for interscholastic competition and beyond.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Specific accountabilities shall include, but not be limited to:
- Knowledge of the mission and philosophy of Notre Dame College Prep and support in incorporating and communicating its vision.
- Provide leadership in program planning and development.
- Coordinate conditioning, practice, and game times as required by the Athletic Director.
- Select, supervise and evaluate coaching assistants at all levels of play.
- Chart statistical analysis to assist with player progress.
- Communicate with area junior high and community programs serving as feeder programs.
- Communicate with parents and athletes regarding program expectations, practice and game times, and changes where applicable.
- Establish procedures for the proper care, inventory, handling, maintenance and storage of equipment.
- Coordinate prep, care, and proper procedures for baseball specific facilities, including (2) natural grass/dirt fields, clubhouse, and training areas.
- Work with the Athletic Director in budgeting and purchasing resources and materials required by the athletic program.
- Develop a conditioning and training program for student athletes.
- Oversee the program development at all competitive levels.
- Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling all contests.
- Provide proper supervision for all practice sessions.
- Serve as head coach of the varsity team during interscholastic contests.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the Athletic Department in developing the total athletic program of Notre Dame College Prep.
- Support the Enrollment Team by hosting enrollment related activities and events where applicable.
- Oversee and support summer camp opportunities for elementary school students.
- Establish, communicate and supervise safety procedures regarding the handling and care of equipment, accidents and injuries, and the conditioning of athletes upon re-entry to a sport following an injury.
- Communicate the high standard of sportsmanship and fair play expected by Notre Dame.
- Understand and support all eligibility requirements (academic, disciplinary, and participation) established by Notre Dame College Prep, the school’s athletic conference, and the Illinois High School Association and support the program by enforcing these requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, an energetic and outgoing personality, strong administrative/organizational skills, and familiarity with the sport of baseball rules, fundamentals, etiquette, and sportsmanship, and teaching these are essential.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in baseball coaching, working in a secondary school, and coaching in a Catholic school setting are preferred.
Physical Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift lightweight objects (10 to 25 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (25 to 50 pounds). Standing for long periods of time is expected. Ability to participate in regular athletic activities and drills as would be typical for athletic coaching.
Salary and Benefits
Stipend will be provided according to experience as dictated by co-curricular stipend scale. An opportunity to teach physical education/health full-time may exist for the candidate. Additional stipends are available for program related events and activities.
