Our client, a global organization within the food manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst to support finance and accounting activities at its San Jose manufacturing facility. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working close to operations and using financial data to understand performance, identify opportunities, and support better business decisions.
In this role, you'll have exposure to the full scope of plant and manufacturing finance, including month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, product costing, inventory, fixed assets, cost savings, internal controls, and operational variance analysis. You'll work closely with Operations and other cross-functional partners, making this a strong opportunity for someone who wants to combine hands-on financial analysis with meaningful business partnership.The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in Finance or Accounting, strong Excel and analytical skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and analysis of plant results and variances.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, plant scorecards, and key performance indicators.
- Support budgeting and forecasting across factory spending, production volume and absorption, materials, labor, capital expenditures, depreciation, utilities, and related operating costs.
- Identify, analyze, and communicate financial risks, trends, and opportunities to business partners.
- Perform daily financial validation and reporting while investigating key operational and financial variance drivers.
- Manage product and material costing activities, including standard cost changes and costing for new products and SKUs.
- Track, forecast, and analyze cost-savings initiatives against established targets and validate their financial impact.
- Support inventory accounting activities, including cycle counts, reconciliations, and inventory analysis.
- Manage financial activities associated with fixed assets and capital projects, including construction in progress, financial evaluations, and fixed asset inventories.
- Partner with Operations and other plant functions to provide financial insights and support data-driven business decisions.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and evaluate plant projects, investments, and business initiatives.
- Maintain accurate financial records and reporting in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures.
- Perform financial controls and SOX/404 testing and support internal and external audit activities.
- Help ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
- Provide backup support for hourly and salaried payroll processing when needed.
- Perform additional financial and accounting responsibilities as business needs arise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
- 2+ years of relevant Finance or Accounting experience within a manufacturing, plant, or production environment.
Prefer:
- Experience with SAP or another enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- Exposure to fixed asset accounting, capital projects, internal controls, or SOX compliance.
