Provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician. Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), provides for personal care and emotional support and performs more complex clinical skills under the direction of an RN. Provides secretarial functions as needed for unit to function.

- Performs and documents routine direct nursing care tasks according to identified age-specific needs.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and the general patient population.
- Provides patient care that meets the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient within the CNA's scope of practice.
- Assists with patient care that is consistent with standards of care and clinical priorities determined by the nurse with the nature of the area/unit, patient care division policies and procedures, demonstrated competencies, and with consideration given to risk management and infection control practices.
- Performs Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) for assigned patients and documents in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Responsible for labeling and securing patient care belongings and ensuring that the patient room is safe and uncluttered.
- Distributes patient’s meals/water and assists with feeding of patients as needed.
- Assists patients with elimination needs and measures/records bodily elimination in medical record.
- Cleans, stocks and cares for supplies and equipment in assigned work area.
For inpatient areas: Performs general CNA care and tasks: oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patients, changing bed linen, cleaning over-bed table and bedside stand, straightening room, and other general care as necessary throughout the shift.
For inpatient areas: Provides evening care which includes hands/face washing as needed, oral hygiene, back rubs, peri-care, freshening linen, cleaning over-bed tables, straightening room, and other general care needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalency required. Active Nebraska Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
