The Maintenance Technician will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and reliable environment across all store locations, positively impacting both staff and customers.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist with maintenance and improvement projects at multiple store locations.
- Inspect and identify equipment or machines requiring repair at store sites.
- Perform general repairs, including fixing drywall, painting, repairing doors and fixtures, and managing maintenance tasks that do not require specialized technicians.
- Carry out routine maintenance on building systems, such as kitchen and refrigeration equipment.
- Maintain and repair property, equipment, and grounds to ensure safety and reliability for both teams and customers.
- Complete work order requests promptly and professionally.
- Learn about and support the upkeep of Jersey Mike’s equipment, including kitchen and refrigeration systems.
- Clearly communicate repair needs to management and team members.
- Assist with janitorial duties, such as power washing, when required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- A thorough understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration systems is essential for effective maintenance and troubleshooting across store locations.
- Proficiency in basic carpentry and painting is helpful for handling repairs involving drywall, doors, and fixtures. Certifications in these areas are considered beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary for diagnosing issues and implementing solutions.
- Superior customer service and communication skills are required for clear and efficient interactions with team members and management regarding repair needs and work order updates.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude and willingness to learn new skills foster a collaborative work environment and support ongoing professional development.
- Basic computer literacy is required for managing work orders and submitting reports accurately and on time.
- The ability to travel daily to as many as 40 area stores is needed to meet the maintenance requirements of multiple locations.
- Availability for day shifts, flexibility for occasional weekends, and the capacity to respond to emergency on-call situations are expected.
- Significant experience in appliance repair and service technician roles, along with a strong understanding of mechanical systems, is highly valued.
- Competence in reading schematics and technical diagrams is vital for effective equipment troubleshooting.
- Expertise in HVAC/R systems, refrigeration technology, air conditioning units, and related mechanical components is required.
- The ability to perform equipment repair and maintenance both independently and as part of a team is crucial.
- Construction experience is advantageous when managing installation or renovation projects.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail are fundamental for diagnosing technical issues.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous related maintenance experience is preferred.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Must be physically capable of climbing ladders, bending, and crawling into tight spaces.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to travel daily between various store locations (up to 40 stores).
- Must be available for day shifts, with some weekend and on-call emergency work as needed.
Schedule & Pay
- Pay: $25.00 per hour
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift; on-call weekends as needed
