POSITION SUMMARY
1220 Exhibits creates unforgettable experiences for its Museum & Exhibit Clients. We are looking for the right person to join our team as Production Purchasing Manager. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing, coordinating, and executing all purchasing & material functions for the production team. Primary responsibilities: Purchasing of all production materials & shop supplies that meet company’s standards for price, quality & services; Managing warehouse & inventory levels to meet our production needs; Accurate & timely reporting of inventory levels, purchasing reports and other reports needed for accounting, production and project management departments. Drive cost reductions by implementing processes to reduce total costs. Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors optimizing rates and identifying opportunities for discounts or cost reductions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Production purchasing agent is ultimately responsible for ensuring that each production cell has the right materials, with the right quality, at the right time and at the right cost to do their job.
2. Manages, coordinates, and executes purchasing actions for 1220 Exhibits.
2. Tracks and reports key functional metrics to reduce expenses.
3. Establishes & updates SOPs and ensures all required documentation is up to date in “real-time” for reporting to Accounting, Project Management and Production personnel. This includes, but is not limited to: purchase orders, invoices, payment records, packing lists, materials inventory, etc.
4. Maintains appropriate inventory levels to meet production plan schedule.
5. Negotiates quality, prices, lead times and other parameters to maintain production effectiveness.
6. Consults on project estimating and proactively identify opportunities and/or exposures related to outsourcing and materials.
7. Develops and maintains key vendor relationships to the benefit of 1220 in terms of preferred forecast pricing, market trends and promptness of service and quality.
8. Collaborates with Accounting, Production, Project Management, and Estimating departments.
9. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS to be considered
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in area of purchasing and logistics in a project based production facility, preferably custom fabrication or related industry.
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
- Sound verbal and writing skills; solid judgement, outstanding organizational skills and self-motivated.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to work well with others in a team environment.
- Sound background in construction or exhibit business preferred with knowledge in supply chain management, inventory control, accounting, and strong attention to detail, ideally in construction, display or exhibit business.
JOB RELATED SKILLS AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Forklift operation and general construction.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and purchasing software (Smartsheets and Excel).
- Must have the ability to work with clients, production crew, designers, project managers and account executives.
- This position requires interaction in 1220’s shop and on job sites under construction. This position may require travel for meetings, installations, and professional development.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $31.50 per hour
