Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Diesel Mechanic Service Technician to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment, including construction machinery, industrial equipment, farm machinery, and vehicle fleets. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of our equipment assets. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, electrical systems, HVAC, and other mechanical components using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on construction machinery, excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other heavy equipment following OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) specifications.
- Fabricate parts and components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to meet repair requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex equipment issues involving hydraulics, suspensions, steering systems, tires, alignments, and electrical diagnostics to restore optimal operation.
- Execute preventive maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, brake repairs, tire services, and equipment inspections to prevent future failures.
- Assist with heavy lifting operations safely using appropriate heavy equipment mechanics techniques while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed; communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding repair status and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Service Technician with a strong background in heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Dealership experience or extensive work with OEM parts and schematics is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, equipment troubleshooting, welding, soldering, and fabrication techniques.
- Knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, HVAC systems, suspensions, power tools usage and safety procedures.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; familiarity with heavy equipment operation is advantageous.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent problem-solving skills; capable of performing heavy lifting safely.
- Valid certifications in diesel engine repair, air brake systems or related areas are a plus; ongoing training in heavy equipment servicing is encouraged.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to repairs and maintenance; ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
