Position Summary
This position will be responsible for day-to-day operations in the accounting/finance department including bank reconciliations, fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, management reporting, AP invoice and payment review, sales and franchise tax accounting, and royalty accounting. The individual should work independently with minimal supervision, in an accurate and timely manner, use discretion in handling confidential information, and have attention to detail.
Essential Functions
- Capitalize fixed assets, reconcile accounts, post monthly depreciation, and ensure accurate information is recorded on the purchase of new assets.
- Conduct a bi-annual physical inventory of company fixed assets. Ensure assets are tagged. Maintain fixed asset sub-ledger and reconcile to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
- Coordinate the inventory cycle count process with the materials team; analyze and report results. Complete quarterly analysis of inventory to determine which parts need to be counted in accordance with company policy.
- Complete quarterly inventory standard cost analysis and update.
- Complete quarterly inventory reserve analysis and recommend reserve requirements to management. Monitor and record usage of reserved parts in the general ledger.
- Assist the logistics team as needed with related projects. Design, test, and implement new inventory accounting processes ensuring that proper controls are maintained and that the transactions are completed in the ERP system.
- Complete monthly closing responsibilities including analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, bank reconciliations, inventory reconciliations and other items as assigned.
- Complete lease analysis on new leases and post entries to the general ledger.
- Complete sales and franchise tax analysis and post related entries in the general ledger. File monthly sales tax returns with the state.
- Prepare property tax documentation and backup for tax consultants on an annual basis. Work with the operations team annually to update idle machinery analysis. Update property tax forecast throughout the year as assumptions change and provide budgetary numbers.
- Complete monthly AP and vendor audit processes.
- Complete annual audit schedules for inventory and fixed assets.
- Complete special projects accurately and timely as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Experience
- 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting, preferably in manufacturing or audit
- Familiarity with IFRS a plus, but not a requirement
- Proficiency with MS Office products and familiarity with Sage 100 a plus
- Ability to prepare concise, accurate, and auditable spreadsheets
- Must have good written/verbal communication skills to interact with all members of the organization
- Ability to multi-task
- Must be a flexible team player.
- Must be able to work from home or in the office as needed. Monday and Thursday are office days. Other days are flexible based on manager approval.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Position requires sitting for extended periods of time, repetitive motion while entering data into a computer, operating standard office equipment, and use of a telephone. Must be able to see and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids. Employees will be able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone. The position requires effective communication skills, verbal and written form. The position may require standing, walking, bending over, reaching overhead, grasping, pushing, pulling and moving, lifting and/or carrying up to 25 pounds without assistance. Lifting more than 25 lbs will require additional help. This is a standard office environment.
