About the 8x10:
The 8x10 has served a vibrant live music community for the last four decades by offering diverse entertainment and providing a warm, welcoming “third place” to joyfully gather. Over the last 40 years, the stage at 10 East Cross Street has hosted legendary acts including Nirvana, Widespread Panic, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phish, Chuck Berry, Dave Matthews Band, Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Cliff and many more. As of 2026, The 8x10 has entered a new era of stewardship with an ownership group that includes beloved Baltimore musician Cris Jacobs and Rising Sun Presents, a Philadelphia-based live music production company. The 8x10 is a 300-capacity rock club that features a state of the art sound system, an open dance floor with a wraparound balcony, and a full bar with a wide selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. We plan on re-opening October 6th!
Job Description:
- Assisting with opening and closing duties, such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
- Ensuring bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
- Checking taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly, making or changing out kegs, if needed.
- Keeping the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Learning about menu items and memorizing cocktail recipes.
- Bussing tables and assist to keep bar area clean.
- Speaking to customers, answering questions.
- Maintain records and report levels of usage to assist in the reordering process and ensuring that delivered items are stored properly.
Responsibilities
- Assist bartenders in preparing drinks and serving customers promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including washing glassware and cleaning surfaces.
- Stock and organize bar supplies, including liquor, mixers, garnishes, and glassware.
- Handle cash transactions accurately using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS.
- Support food preparation and bussing duties during busy shifts.
- Ensure compliance with food handling and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests and responding to their needs.
- Assist in setting up for banquets or special events as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in the food industry or hospitality sector is preferred.
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and POS systems is essential.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment, especially during peak hours.
- Knowledge of cleaning protocols and food preparation techniques.
- Experience in nightclub or catering settings is a plus.
- Must be able to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods.
- A positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional service are essential.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $85.00 - $200.00 per day
