Pegasus Leak Detection is looking for an experienced plumber to perform plumbing repairs after leaks have been located.
This position is ideal for someone who is confident working independently, takes pride in doing clean and professional work, and can manage a project from the initial customer conversation through the completed repair.
Our work is primarily focused on water-line leak repairs, including direct-access slab repairs and plumbing reroutes. This is not a position where you will simply be handed a tool and told which fitting to replace. You will be trusted to evaluate the job, develop an appropriate repair plan, communicate with the customer, perform the work, document the project, and identify legitimate additional plumbing needs when they arise.
As our plumbing division grows, the person hired for this role will have opportunities to lead larger projects, train future employees, and take on greater responsibility within the company.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your primary responsibility will be repairing water leaks in residential and commercial properties.
Typical work may include:
- Performing direct-access slab leak repairs
- Removing flooring and opening concrete to access leaking pipes
- Excavating, repairing, testing, backfilling, and properly closing the work area
- Performing reroutes
- Repairing leaking water lines, valves, fittings, and plumbing components
- Installing or replacing water shutoff valves and related plumbing equipment
- Diagnosing plumbing issues discovered during repair projects
- Developing repair recommendations and explaining available options to customers
- Creating estimates and obtaining customer approval before additional work is performed
- Preparing occupied homes for invasive plumbing projects
- Protecting flooring, cabinets, walls, furniture, and surrounding areas
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe worksite
- Cleaning the project area thoroughly when work is completed
- Taking clear before, during, and after photos
- Recording accurate notes, materials, and job details in our CRM
- Creating estimates, sending invoices, and obtaining electronic signatures or approvals
- Communicating job progress, delays, complications, and changes with the office
- Maintaining an organized company vehicle, tools, materials, and inventory
- Assisting with larger plumbing projects as the company grows
- Helping train future plumbing technicians and assistants
Managing the Entire Project
In a larger plumbing company, a project may be divided among a salesperson, project manager, plumber, laborer, and office employee.
At Pegasus, you will have support from the office, but you will also be expected to take ownership of the job while you are on site.
That means being able to:
- Speak professionally and confidently with customers
- Explain plumbing problems in terms customers can understand
- Present repair options without using aggressive or high-pressure sales tactics
- Recognize legitimate additional plumbing concerns
- Explain why additional work may be recommended
- Obtain approval before expanding the original scope of work
- Keep the customer and office informed throughout the project
- Address problems instead of ignoring them or leaving them for someone else
For example, when completing a leak repair, you may discover that the property’s main water shutoff is no longer operating correctly. You should be able to recognize the problem, explain it to the customer, recommend an appropriate solution, prepare an estimate, and obtain approval when the customer wishes to proceed.
We are looking for someone who understands that good customer service, communication, documentation, and job management are all part of being a professional plumber.
What We’re Looking For
The right person will have strong hands-on plumbing experience and be comfortable completing leak repairs independently.
You should be:
- Experienced in residential plumbing repair
- Familiar with direct-access slab leak repairs
- Familiar with reroutes
- Knowledgeable about water-distribution systems, valves, fittings, and repair methods
- Able to diagnose plumbing problems and develop practical repair solutions
- Comfortable working independently without constant supervision
- Dependable and consistently on time
- Proactive about communicating delays, problems, or changes
- Comfortable speaking with homeowners and property representatives
- Able to explain technical issues clearly and professionally
- Comfortable recommending and selling necessary plumbing work
- Clean, organized, and respectful of customers’ homes
- Capable of properly preparing and protecting occupied properties
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, apps, and cloud-based software
- Able to learn and consistently use our CRM and job-management systems
- Detail-oriented when writing job notes and documenting completed work
- Interested in taking ownership and growing into a larger leadership role
Technology and Documentation
This is a field position, but basic technology skills are required.
You will be expected to use a smartphone or tablet to:
- Review assigned jobs and customer information
- Communicate with the office
- Record detailed job notes
- Upload photographs and project documentation
- Create and send estimates
- Obtain customer approvals
- Send invoices
- Record materials and completed work
- Update the status of each job
You do not need to know our specific software before starting, but you must be comfortable learning and consistently using modern job-management technology.
Consistent, Year-Round Hours
This is a stable, full-time position with a consistent Monday-through-Friday schedule.
We do not intend to send employees home simply because the repair schedule is temporarily lighter. When fieldwork is slower, paid working time may include:
- Vehicle and equipment maintenance
- Inventory management and organization
- Warehouse or shop projects
- Training and professional development
- Cross-training opportunities
- Assisting with other company projects and operations
The person hired for this position should expect to be scheduled for a consistent 40-hour workweek, with opportunities for overtime and additional earnings as workload permits.

Compensation & Benefits
We want this to be a stable, long-term position for the right plumber. In addition to competitive hourly compensation, eligible full-time employees receive:
- Consistent full-time schedule: Monday through Friday, with approximately 40 hours scheduled each week
- Overtime opportunities: This is an hourly, nonexempt position with overtime paid in accordance with California law
- Health insurance: Group health insurance is available to eligible employees and eligible dependents after the applicable waiting period. Pegasus pays a portion of the cost of coverage, with the employee responsible for the remaining portion
- 401(k) retirement plan: Eligible employees may participate after satisfying the plan's applicable waiting period

- First and second year of employment: up to 40 hours of vacation annually, with a maximum accrued balance of 60 hours

Minimum Requirements
- 3 years of plumbing experience
- Demonstrated experience repairing residential plumbing systems
- Experience with slab leak repairs and plumbing reroutes
- Valid California driver’s license
- Acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English
- Ability to use a smartphone and learn job-management software
- Ability to pass any required background check or driving-record review
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of plumbing and construction work
Physical Requirements
This position involves active plumbing and construction work. The employee must be able to:
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and climb
- Work in crawl spaces, attics, trenches, and confined areas
- Use ladders and work in elevated areas when necessary
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Use hand tools, power tools, jackhammers, and plumbing equipment
- Dig, excavate, remove debris, and move construction materials
- Lift and carry up to 120 pounds
- Work around dust, moisture, noise, chemicals, and construction materials
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
