Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, slicing, dicing, and portioning according to recipes and standards
- Assist with meal assembly and food plating to ensure presentation quality
- Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, ovens, and fryers safely and efficiently
- Follow food safety protocols and maintain proper food handling practices at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment through regular cleaning and sanitizing
- Support the culinary team in adhering to recipe specifications and portion control guidelines
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate prep activities and ensure timely meal production
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments, dietary aide roles, or food service environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of menu planning, food preparation techniques, and cooking methods
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and ingredient preparation
- Understanding of food safety management standards and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to follow detailed recipes accurately while maintaining consistency in meal preparation
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with kitchen staff
- Experience in restaurant or catering settings is a plus but not required; a passion for culinary arts is essential
