Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable Prep Cook to assist with daily food preparation for dining hall services located at Presby and/or Newman Hall on the UIUC campus. This position is responsible for preparing ingredients, following recipes, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting the kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared efficiently and consistently. Position start date will be August 10th, 2026.

Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, chopping, measuring, and portioning food.
- Follow recipes and production schedules to prepare food for daily service and catered events.
- Occasionally create salads
- Label, date, and properly store food products.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work area.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with stocking and organizing kitchen supplies.
- Receive and put away deliveries as needed.
- Assist line cooks and other kitchen staff during meal service.
- Complete opening, closing, and cleaning duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to follow recipes and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Food Handler Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
Schedule
- Full-time and part-time positions available.
- Morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required based on business needs.
- Additional hours may be available for catered events and seasonal operations.
