First Baptist Church of Columbus Job Description: Part-Time Nursery Care Staff
Purpose: The Nursery Care Staff helps provide a safe, loving, clean, and Christ-centered environment for infants and young children during church services and ministry events. This role supports the Nursery Supervisor by caring for children, engaging with families, assisting volunteers, and helping maintain nursery operations so that parents can participate in worship and church activities with confidence.
Supervision: Serving as a Hired Staff Member, the Nursery Care Staff reports directly to the Nursery Supervisor who works in collaboration with the Associate Pastor and Christian Education Ministry Team Coordinator.
Position Hours: Approximately 3-6 hours each week, along with other events as needed
Compensation: Hourly pay commensurate with experience
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all children
- Engage and interact with children in a loving and attentive manner
- Lead a simple, age-appropriate Bible lesson or spiritual activity
- Help create a welcoming experience for parents and families
- Assist the Nursery Supervisor with daily nursery operations and assigned tasks
- Support smooth child check-in and check-out procedures
- Follow all nursery safety procedures and church childcare policies
- Ensure regular cleaning and sanitizing of nursery toys, furniture, and surfaces
- Notify the Nursery Supervisor when nursery supplies are running low or additional resources are needed
- Assist during church services, ministry programs, and special events as needed
- Communicate any concerns regarding children, safety, behavior, or nursery needs to the Nursery Supervisor promptly
- Support the mission and values of First Baptist Church
Job Skills/Requirements/Experience
- CPR & First Aid Certification (must be current or willing to obtain)
- Experience working with young children preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Dependable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling needs
- A positive, dependable, and team-oriented attitude
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
