The Director of Therapy Services oversees the planning, development, and coordination of physical, occupational, and speech therapy programs in a skilled nursing facility. This leadership role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care, regulatory compliance, and efficient department operations. The Director leads a multidisciplinary team and collaborates closely with nursing, medical staff, and administration.
- Provide leadership and direction to physical, occupational, and speech therapy departments.
- Supervise and support therapy staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Ensure therapy services meet all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare/Medicaid guidelines and documentation requirements.
- Oversee accurate and timely documentation, billing, and reporting of therapy services.
- Monitor and manage department budgets, staffing levels, productivity, and utilization metrics.
- Coordinate therapy evaluations and treatments to promote the highest functional outcomes for residents.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in care conferences, quality assurance initiatives, and survey readiness efforts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, rehabilitation trends, and compliance policies.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment with a strong focus on patient care and staff satisfaction.
- Current license in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology (as applicable).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.
- At least 2 years of management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, including CMS, MDS, PDPM, and Quality Measures
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, such as PointClickCare or Rehab Optima.
