Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA), caregiver, or home health aide to provide essential support and companionship to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, with experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care settings. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives by delivering personalized care with professionalism, empathy, and respect. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with activities of daily living, monitoring health status, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for those under their care.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to track health status.
- Provide medication reminders and support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations.
- Support clients with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met while adhering to dietary restrictions.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Observe and report any changes in client condition or behavior to healthcare professionals or family members promptly.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to safely transfer clients with mobility challenges.
- Engage clients in social activities or therapeutic exercises to promote mental well-being and social interaction.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer's and memory care), and working with individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional training in hospice care or autism support is a plus.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of client information.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary for patient transfers or mobility assistance.
- Strong communication skills combined with patience, empathy, and professionalism when interacting with clients and their families.
- Valid certifications in medication administration or nursing assistance preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain relevant credentials is advantageous.
