Duties
- Oversee daily nursing operations during weekend shifts, ensuring high-quality patient care across all departments.
- LPN or RN
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, fostering professional development and team cohesion.
- Coordinate patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation to ensure accurate and timely records.
- Manage clinical workflows including medication administration, IV infusion procedures, catheter care, and wound management.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state healthcare regulations, and facility policies while maintaining safety standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop discharge plans, manage complex cases involving dementia or behavioral health needs, and facilitate communication with families.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient care activities accurately.
Skills
- Extensive critical care experience including ICU, emergency medicine, or Level I trauma center settings.
- Proven supervisory experience managing nursing teams in long-term care, assisted living, or hospital environments.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for medical documentation and patient records management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and diagnostic evaluation procedures.
- Skilled in patient assessment techniques such as vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, venipuncture, catheterization, and sterile techniques.
- Ability to manage complex cases involving ventilator management, tube feeding, spinal taps, or dialysis procedures.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and long-term care regulations; experience with utilization review and management is a plus.
- Excellent leadership skills in supervising multidisciplinary teams while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of specialized areas such as geriatrics (memory care), pediatric care (neonatal ventilator), behavioral health, or acute pain management is highly desirable.
