Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or other health challenges. This role involves supporting residents in their daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting independence within a caring environment. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe and report changes in condition.
- Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA regulations.
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition needs while ensuring dietary guidelines are followed.
- Provide personal care including assistance with toileting, hygiene, and mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols, including CPR and first aid procedures.
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA standards and facility policies.
- Engage residents in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental well-being.
- Perform light cleaning duties to maintain a hygienic living space for residents.
- Assist with specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments preferred.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous.
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or memory care is highly desirable.
- Ability to lift heavy loads safely (e.g., Hoyer lifts) and perform physical tasks associated with patient care.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient safety.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills to engage effectively with residents and team members.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and adherence to healthcare regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours including shifts that may involve evenings or weekends if needed; some positions may require working on-call or overnight shifts.
