Looking to start or grow your career in early childhood education? The YMCA Mt Hope Childcare Center is hiring a Teaching Assistant (TA) to support a high-quality early learning classroom serving infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children, values teamwork, and wants hands-on experience in a licensed early childhood program. Schedule varies M-F between the hours of 8:15am and 5:30pm.
The Teaching Assistant supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. This role plays a key part in supporting children’s development through hands-on learning, positive relationships, and consistent care.

Assist with implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum

Support lesson planning for both indoor and outdoor activities

Help conduct child observations and assessments

Maintain classroom environment aligned with ITERS/ECERS standards

Follow DCYF licensing regulations and BrightStars standards

Conduct daily health checks and maintain documentation

Track attendance and meal counts
-
Support daily routines and transitions

Communicate with families through daily or weekly updates

Ensure proper sign-in/sign-out procedures

Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures

Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff

Attend required trainings and staff meetings

18+ years old
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
Interest in early childhood education or childcare

Ability to work as part of a team
