Founding Board of Directors — Board MemberOverview
Linda Bryant School (LBS) is seeking a select group of committed leaders to join our Founding Board of Directors as we build a K–8 school Born from Legacy. Built for Impact.
This is an unpaid volunteer leadership position for individuals who are passionate about education, community, and helping build something meaningful from the ground up.
We are looking for a few special individuals whose expertise, professional experience, relationships, and commitment can help strengthen LBS during this foundational stage.
We are particularly seeking experience in:
- Grants & Resource Development
- Finance
- Education Law & Compliance
- Community Engagement
Board Member Responsibilities
Board members will:
- Provide strategic guidance as LBS develops and grows.
- Help establish and review policies that support effective governance, accountability, and compliance.
- Support fundraising, grant development, and resource-development initiatives.
- Leverage professional and community networks to identify donors, sponsors, partners, and funding opportunities for LBS.
- Leverage their network to secure $5000 annual contribution or equivalent philanthropic support when appropriate.
- Build relationships with businesses, foundations, community organizations, philanthropic organizations, and individuals who can invest in the future of LBS.
- Provide financial oversight and strategic financial guidance.
- Assist with identifying and evaluating grant opportunities.
- Provide expertise and guidance related to educational law, regulations, compliance, and policy, where applicable.
- Support community engagement and the development of meaningful partnerships throughout Broward County.
- Serve as an ambassador for Linda Bryant School within the community.
- Participate actively in Board meetings, committees, school events, fundraising initiatives, and other activities that advance the mission of LBS.
- Help position Linda Bryant School for long-term financial sustainability, organizational strength, and community impact.
Experience & Qualifications
We are particularly interested in candidates with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
Grants & Resource Development
- Grant writing and grant management
- Foundation and corporate funding
- Fundraising strategy
- Donor development
- Government funding opportunities
Finance
- Accounting or financial management
- Budget development and oversight
- Banking, investments, or financial strategy
- Financial reporting
Education Law & Compliance
- Educational law
- School policy and regulatory compliance
- Education-related legal matters
- Risk management or organizational compliance
Community Engagement
- Community partnership development
- Business and nonprofit relationships
- Government or civic engagement
- Community-based initiatives
- Strong local professional and community networks
Additional experience in education, nonprofit leadership, strategic planning, real estate, operations, marketing, communications, or organizational development is highly valuable.

Founding Board Commitment
Serving on the LBS Board is an unpaid volunteer leadership commitment. Board members are expected to contribute their time, expertise, relationships, and resources toward the success of the school.
Each Board member is expected to contribute $5,000 annually or leverage their professional and community network to secure equivalent philanthropic support for LBS.
This expectation reflects our belief that those helping lead the organization should also actively participate in building its financial foundation.
