Job Title: Storeroom Shipping and Receiving Coordinator- Steelscape Kalama
Job Title Reporting to: Senior Engineer- Steelscape Kalama
The Parts Receiving Coordinator supports the Maintenance organization by receiving, checking in, stocking, documenting, delivering, and coordinating the flow of maintenance parts, materials, freight, supplies, and related shipments. This role partners with maintenance leaders, planners, engineers, technicians, storeroom personnel, parts coordination, production stakeholders, vendors, and carriers to ensure incoming parts are accurately received, safely handled, properly stored, and made available to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The position helps maintain accurate receiving records, inventory movement, storeroom organization, vendor-stocked consumables, outgoing shipments, and plant delivery service while promoting Zero Harm, good housekeeping, inventory accuracy, and responsive service to internal customers.
Receiving, Freight, and Shipment Coordination
Check in UPS shipments and other incoming freight, verify correct receipt information, and route materials to the appropriate storeroom, maintenance, or plant location.
Inspect incoming packages and freight for basic receiving issues such as visible damage, missing information, incorrect quantities, or delivery deviations and communicate concerns for follow-up.
Prepare outgoing shipments and coordinate shipping documentation, packaging, staging, and carrier handoff as required by site process.
Maintain accurate receiving and shipment records using SAP, Microsoft Office, email, and other tracking tools as required.
Storeroom Stocking, Inventory, and Parts Movement
Assign or support store locations for new stock items and maintain organized storage locations, labels, documentation, and housekeeping in the storeroom and related storage areas.
Perform cycle inventory counts, physical counts, periodic checks, and discrepancy follow-up to support inventory accuracy and reliable system information.
Update inventory levels based on non-work order stock issue slips and help maintain records of quantity, receipt, disbursement, price, and movement of stocked parts, materials, and supplies.
Internal Customer Service and Plant Deliveries
Provide assistance to maintenance associates, planners, engineers, supervisors, and other internal customers in finding storeroom parts and understanding part availability.
Deliver parts to requisitioners and plant locations as needed to support maintenance execution, outage support, repair work, preventive maintenance, and project-related work.
Make part runs when required and support timely movement of materials between receiving, storeroom, maintenance areas, and production areas.
Vendor-Managed Consumables and Materials Support
Ensure vendors are keeping consumable shelves in good order and communicate issues related to stock condition, replenishment, labeling, or housekeeping.
Identify repeat receiving, stocking, labeling, or location issues and elevate improvement opportunities that affect inventory accuracy or maintenance execution.
Support continuous improvement of receiving flow, storeroom organization, material handling, documentation quality, and maintenance customer service.
Safety, Compliance, and Professional Conduct
Work safely and follow site expectations, PPE requirements, forklift and warehouse practices, material handling expectations, and applicable procedures when entering the maintenance shop, storeroom, mill, receiving, warehouse, or production areas.
Handle parts, freight, pallets, packages, consumables, and supplies in a safe and orderly manner while maintaining clean and organized work areas.
Maintain courteous, tactful, and professional relationships with internal customers, carriers, vendors, manufacturers, and co-workers.
Respond promptly to time-sensitive receiving needs, freight issues, part deliveries, outage-related material needs, and shipment follow-up items.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrated experience receiving, stocking, shipping, delivering, inventorying, or handling parts, materials, supplies, or freight in a manufacturing, maintenance, warehouse, storeroom, or similar operational environment.
Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform material handling duties including standing, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, moving freight, and working around warehouse and production activity.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, Outlook/email, and general office equipment; ability to learn and effectively use additional business systems.
Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP, CMMS, inventory, receiving, warehouse, or materials management systems preferred.
Strong organization, follow-up discipline, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work professionally with carriers, vendors, internal customers, maintenance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Ability to solve problems, reconcile discrepancies, use sound judgment, and work under pressure while meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
Ability to work safely in office, receiving, warehouse, storeroom, maintenance, and manufacturing environments and meet site PPE requirements.
Ability to work weekends, extended hours, outage support, or adjusted schedules when business needs require.
Experience with maintenance, reliability, preventive maintenance, MRO, spare parts, receiving, shipping, or storeroom processes.
Inventory management, cycle counting, material handling, forklift, vendor-managed inventory, warehouse, or parts-room experience.
Knowledge of accepted warehousing methods, inventory methods, receiving methods, stock location practices, material handling procedures, and safe storage of parts and supplies.
Experience supporting heavy manufacturing, steel, metal processing, construction products, industrial maintenance, warehouse, or production environments.
Ability to prioritize receiving needs, delivery risks, outage needs, part deliveries, inventory accuracy, and routine material handling work without losing accuracy.
Sound judgment when balancing safety, urgency, inventory accuracy, material handling requirements, delivery priorities, and business impact.
Clear communication, tact, and professionalism when working with suppliers, carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
Detail-oriented approach to receiving accuracy, part locations, stock levels, documentation, and discrepancy resolution.
Leading at BlueScope Attributes
Primary work is performed in receiving, warehouse, storeroom, maintenance, office, and plant areas with frequent interaction in the maintenance shop, mill/production areas, and related storage locations.
The employee may be required to enter areas near moving mechanical parts, mobile equipment, forklifts, overhead cranes, welding, burning, machining activities, hazardous chemicals, and hot or cold industrial conditions.
The noise level may be moderate to high in manufacturing, warehouse, receiving, or maintenance areas and may require hearing protection.
The employee must utilize required PPE when accessing designated manufacturing, maintenance, receiving, warehouse, or storeroom areas.
The role may require standing, walking, lifting, bending, reaching, material handling, forklift activity, computer work, and extended periods of prioritizing time-sensitive receiving and delivery requests.
