The Salesclerk position involves assisting customers, stocking shelves, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The ideal candidate has great customer service skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a ‘Service Delivery Area’ comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services.

Handle cash, credit or check transactions with customers

Scan goods and collect payments

Ensure pricing is correct

Issue change, receipts, refunds, or tickets

Redeem coupons and save them

Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change. Do paperwork.

Make sales referrals, cross-sell products and introduce new ones

Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information

Bag items carefully

Greet customers when entering or leaving the establishment

Offer to carry out items

Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas

Sweep and mop the floor at night

Clean cooler doors and any spills
-
Wipe off carts
-
Take out trash
-
Clean bathrooms
-
Mark down any products tossed due to spoilage

Remove old sales tags put up new ones

Make sure current ads are out and being distributed

Help with truck

Break down boxes and take out to garbage

Stock shelves (rotate it)

Face the product (pull it forward)

Keep reports on transactions

Process returns and check to see if items are damaged

Answer customers' questions and get a manager if the answer does not solve the issue

Bag, box or wrap packages

Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction
This position has no supervisory authority.
Minimum:
-
Previous retail or grocery experience is a plus but not required
-
Strong customer service and communication skills
-
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
-
Comfortable standing for long periods and working on your feet

Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

Basic math skills for handling cash and transactions
Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
