Job description:
We are looking for a team focused, self-motivated, full-time, Orthodontic Assistant to work at our fast-paced orthodontic practice. Travel is required. If you are a fast learner, love to smile and love to work with people, we want you on our team! Strong communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to multi-task are a must. Responsibilities include assisting Doctor with orthodontic procedures, patient care and communication.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and customize orthodontic appliances, including braces, retainers, and aligners, ensuring accuracy and quality using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) tools and laboratory equipment
- Assist orthodontists during patient appointments by managing chairside procedures efficiently and maintaining a smooth workflow
- Take precise dental impressions, measurements with micrometers, and record vital signs to support treatment planning and patient assessments
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Ensure strict infection control protocols are followed through aseptic techniques and sterilization procedures to safeguard patient health
- Support dental fabrication processes by working with dental materials, medical imaging data, and laboratory tools to produce high-quality appliances
- Assist in patient education regarding appliance care, treatment progress, and oral hygiene practices tailored for pediatric or adult patients
Experience
- Proven experience in dental assisting with a focus on orthodontics or dental laboratory work is highly preferred
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy relevant to orthodontics, medical coding, and medical terminology is essential for accurate record keeping and communication
- Hands-on experience with medical imaging techniques used in dentistry and orthodontics enhances diagnostic support capabilities
- Laboratory experience involving dental fabrication techniques such as CAD/CAM technology is advantageous
- Understanding of infection control standards specific to dental offices ensures compliance with health regulations
- Prior exposure to pediatrics or working with diverse patient populations is a plus for delivering compassionate care
