Job Summary

Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using safe lifting practices and equipment like Hoyer lifts.
- Take and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring proper documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, following strict aseptic techniques and HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient safety and confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care environments such as ICU, emergency medicine, or Level I trauma centers to deliver timely patient service.
- Maintain infection control standards by practicing aseptic techniques and adhering to infection prevention protocols for infectious disease care.
- Assist with medical procedures like catheter care or phlebotomy when trained and authorized, ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures.
Skills
- Proven experience working with geriatric patients in long-term care facilities or nursing homes.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification.
- Experience in diverse clinical settings including assisted living, hospice care, pediatrics, or outpatient clinics.
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on patient-centered service and compassionate communication.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting while maintaining safe lifting practices.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced environments like hospital medicine or urgent care.
