Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our established CPA firm. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with an experienced CPA serving small business and individual clients, with a focus on international taxation.
The ideal candidate will have experience preparing financial statements, business and individual tax returns, bookkeeping, payroll tax reporting, and year-end accounting workpapers. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive client relationships are essential. Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, with and without disclosures, in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Prepare business, individual, and payroll tax returns accurately and timely.
- Perform bookkeeping services, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Complete month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Prepare year-end workpapers and supporting schedules for tax and financial reporting.
- Assist the CPA with tax planning, advisory services, and special client projects.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper documentation.
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding accounting, tax, and bookkeeping matters.
- Utilize accounting software and Microsoft Excel to analyze financial information and prepare reports.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and payroll tax requirements.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.
- Experience preparing financial statements, tax returns, bookkeeping, and payroll tax filings.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, including general ledger, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Accounting CS, QuickBooks, or similar accounting and tax software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to outstanding client service.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with international taxation or foreign currency conversions, particularly involving Mexican currency, is preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a CPA firm.
- Knowledge of international tax reporting and compliance.
- Familiarity with small business accounting and advisory services.
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA licensure is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $50,000–$60,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
