Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle systems including engines, powertrains, electrical systems, and using automotive diagnostic tools and schematics.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and alignments to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
- Repair some diesel engines and gasoline automotive engine systems with precision and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
- Interpret automotive wiring diagrams and schematics to troubleshoot electrical issues effectively.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and heavy lifting techniques safely to complete mechanical repairs and system upgrades.
- Conduct vehicle inspections to identify mechanical or electrical problems and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance actions.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings for each vehicle serviced.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a clean, organized workspace conducive to efficient workflow.
Experience
- Proven professional experience or equivalent in automotive repair environments with a focus on passenger cars and light trucks.
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic procedures for various vehicle makes including GM vehicles.
- Hands-on experience with alignment procedures, and heavy-duty vehicle maintenance is highly desirable.
- Skilled in the use of automotive diagnostics tools such as scan tools and multimeters for accurate troubleshooting.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing engine repair, powertrain components, transmission systems, and vehicle maintenance protocols.
- Familiarity with engine repair techniques and automotive wiring diagram interpretation.
- Demonstrated ability to handle manual handling tasks safely while performing repairs involving heavy lifting or prolonged physical activity.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with a proactive approach to vehicle care and maintenance.
