Job Overview
Gipp Solutions LLC is seeking dependable, hardworking Project-Based Laborers to support residential demolition, land clearing, concrete removal, site preparation, debris removal, and general site work.
This is a part-time, project-based W-2 position. Work is scheduled based on active projects and company needs. Weekly hours will vary and are not guaranteed.
This is a physically demanding outdoor position. Employees must be prepared to perform manual labor for extended periods in heat, cold, humidity, dirt, dust, mud, and changing weather conditions.
Projects are performed at various job sites throughout Hampton Roads and surrounding areas, so regular travel to different project locations is required.
Pay: $18.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with residential demolition and removal of houses, sheds, decks, fences, and other structures.
- Assist with land clearing, brush and vegetation removal, concrete removal, site preparation, and cleanup.
- Load demolition debris, vegetation, concrete, and other approved materials into dumpsters.
- Perform manual demolition using hand and power tools.
- Use tools such as Sawzalls, chainsaws, pry bars, sledgehammers, shovels, rakes, and other construction equipment when trained and authorized.
- Serve as a ground person and spotter around excavators, skid steers, Bobcats, trucks, dumpsters, and other heavy equipment.
- Assist equipment operators with maintaining safe work zones and identifying potential hazards.
- Help protect lawns, driveways, fences, neighboring property, utilities, and other areas surrounding the work zone.
- Perform lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, raking, sweeping, and general site cleanup throughout the workday.
- Assist with temporary fence removal, site-access preparation, ground protection, and job-site setup when required.
- Follow instructions provided by the Field Superintendent/Lead Operator.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites.
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Accurately follow company timekeeping procedures.
- Report to assigned projects on time and prepared to work.
Physical & Work Requirements
Applicants must be able and willing to:
- Perform physically demanding manual labor for extended periods.
- Regularly lift and carry materials and debris weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Push, pull, bend, kneel, climb, squat, reach, and work from various positions throughout the workday.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven, muddy, or rough terrain.
- Work outdoors during hot summers, cold weather, humidity, and changing weather conditions.
- Work around dirt, dust, noise, construction debris, and heavy equipment.
- Wear required PPE, including appropriate work boots and other safety equipment.
- Travel to different project locations throughout Hampton Roads and surrounding areas.
- Work varying start times and workdays depending on project requirements.
Qualifications
- Dependability and reliable attendance are required.
- Reliable transportation to assigned reporting locations or job sites is required.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a crew.
- Must maintain professional conduct while working on customer properties.
- Must be safety-conscious and comfortable working around heavy construction equipment.
- Construction, demolition, landscaping, land clearing, concrete, or site-work experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, chainsaws, and reciprocating saws is a plus.
- Heavy-equipment experience is a plus but is not required.
- Willingness to learn and develop additional construction and equipment skills.
Equipment & Safety
Employees may not operate company-owned or rental heavy equipment unless specifically trained and authorized by Gipp Solutions management.
Laborers are expected to follow instructions from the designated Field Superintendent/Lead Operator and comply with all company safety requirements.
Project-Based Scheduling
This position is best suited for individuals who understand that work availability depends on active projects.
Weekly hours may vary significantly, and there may be periods when no work is scheduled. No minimum number of weekly hours is guaranteed.
Employees may be contacted as projects become available. Once an employee accepts a project assignment, they are expected to report on time, prepared to work, and remain for the scheduled work period unless otherwise authorized.
Reliable employees who consistently demonstrate strong attendance, safety, work ethic, teamwork, and performance may receive priority scheduling, additional hours, and opportunities to develop into higher-skilled field positions.
Professional Expectations
Employees are expected to represent Gipp Solutions professionally while on customer properties and job sites.
Personal cell phone use should be limited to designated breaks, emergencies, or authorized business purposes while actively working.
Laborers are not authorized to negotiate pricing, approve changes to the scope of work, make commitments to customers, or perform additional work requested by a customer without approval from company management.
