Location: Remote – Candidates must reside in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, or Arkansas

Shift: Monday–Friday, Day Shift (8 hours/day)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week

For W2 Candidates:
Blended Hourly W2 Pay Rate: $45.00/hour
Blended Weekly Gross Pay Rate: $1,800.00/week
For 1099 Candidates:
Pay Rate on 1099 to the Candidate: $48.00/hour
Weekly 1099 Pay Rate: $1,920.00/week
Our client is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coding Auditor II to perform inpatient coding audits, DRG validation, quality reviews, and coding education. The ideal candidate will have extensive acute-care inpatient coding experience, strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG assignment, and prior experience auditing complex inpatient accounts. This role also involves mentoring coding staff, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct peer-to-peer coding audits and auditor quality reviews
- Perform inpatient coding quality reviews including pre-bill audits, monthly audits, CDI reconciliations, and second-level reviews
- Review query compliance and provide feedback on quality and appropriateness
- Validate principal diagnoses, principal procedures, secondary diagnoses, and ICD-10-PCS coding accuracy
- Perform DRG validation and account abstraction reviews
- Respond to coding-related inquiries from internal and external teams
- Identify coding trends, errors, and opportunities for workflow improvement
- Develop educational materials, tip sheets, and training resources
- Assist with onboarding, training, mentoring, and evaluation of coding staff
- Coach and support coders to improve accuracy and productivity
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve coding and DRG discrepancies
- Maintain productivity, accuracy, and quality standards
- Stay current with coding guidelines, updates, coding clinics, and regulatory changes
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of inpatient hospital coding experience required, including:
- Principal diagnosis selection
- DRG assignment
- Secondary diagnosis coding
- ICD-10-PCS procedure coding
- Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic, Orthopedic, and General/Oncology Surgery coding
- Physician query experience
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient coding auditing and/or DRG validation experience required
- Extensive acute-care inpatient and trauma coding experience required
- Academic Medical Center and Trauma Center experience preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and coding accuracy required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and coding systems required
- Outpatient-only coding experience will not be considered a substitute
Required Certification:
One of the following is required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or CIC

Training & Schedule:
- Training: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST
- Training duration: Approximately 2 weeks
- Post-training schedule: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM CST, Monday–Friday (within assigned 8-hour shift)
- Full productivity expected within 4 weeks
