Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and blood sampling using proper aseptic technique to ensure specimen integrity
- Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, maintaining patient comfort and safety throughout the process
- Accurately identify patients, verify test orders, and label specimens according to laboratory protocols
- Monitor vital signs as needed and provide excellent patient care during specimen collection procedures
- Process, handle, and transport specimens following strict laboratory techniques and safety standards
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, patient information, and specimen details in compliance with medical terminology standards
- Uphold infection control practices and ensure a sterile environment during all laboratory procedures
Experience
- Prior laboratory experience or clinical laboratory experience preferred, especially in hospital or healthcare settings
- Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques such as venipuncture, blood sampling, and specimen processing
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques relevant to phlebotomy
- Experience working with diverse patient populations, providing excellent patient service and care
- Familiarity with hospital protocols, safety procedures, and handling of biological specimens is highly desirable
