The Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) is a visual and performing arts center located within an easy commute of the towns of Ashland, Holliston, Milford, Framingham, Upton, Southborough, Medway, and other nearby MetroWest communities.
The HCA offers classes for youth, teens, and adults in the visual and performing arts. Every year hundreds of students enjoy classes in fine art, dance, music, theater, filmmaking, photography, acting, and creative writing. In addition, students can take private music or art lessons with qualified instructors.
Private Lesson Instructors (Multiple Instruments)
The HCA is accepting resumes for experienced music teachers interested in joining the HCA's roster of private lesson instructors. Instructors should be able to teach beginner through advanced and students of all ages and abilities. The HCA is proud to offer both serious and recreational music training to the community. We are seeking teachers for the academic year: September through June, teachers will also have the opportunity to extend to teach through the summers as well.
We are prioritizing hiring the following instruments and/or days:
- Brass Specialist (Multi-Instrumentalist teacher a plus)
- Strings Specialist (Multi-Instrumentalist a plus, but especially seeking cello)
- Piano (Fridays and Weekends to start)
The HCA is in the Heart of MetroWest, and we have the capacity to fill teachers' schedules up to 30 hours per week and pay $50/hour based on qualifications and experience. Must have in-person availability between Monday–Friday, 3:00–7:00 p.m and/or Weekend mornings and afternoons. HCA instructors work one day or multiple days based on demand.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in music performance or music education preferred, or at least two (2) years of teaching experience. (Masters in performance, music education, or a related field strongly preferred, but not required).
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Strong English language skills
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a regular weekly schedule of lessons and follow-up with students/parents
- Keep the same day and time available throughout the entire school year
- Consistently show up on time to lessons
- Communicate with parents/students about student progress at regular intervals
- Prepare students for our optional recitals which take place three times per year
- Must be computer savvy enough to submit attendance and keep track studios on our digital platform.
Requirements:
- At least three references (1 current or former students and 1-2 employers)
- Must have a clear CORI and ESORI (background checks)
- Ability to consistently arrive on time to the HCA at 98 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton MA
- A schedule that will not conflict with scheduled teaching days from September through June.
- Be available for at least 4 hours per week on a given afternoon/evening
