American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic medical center, with Epic charting experience and ACLS/BLS/NIHSS certifications required.

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a dedicated focus on neurological patient care in an acute care hospital setting
-
Patient population includes adults with neurological conditions, including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
-
Unit includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring

Patient ratio of 1:4–5

Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
-
Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block

Floating to other units within the traveler's clinical skillset is required
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
-
Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending licensure accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS

Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and participation in Rapid Response/Code teams

Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
-
Experience with medication administration and cardiac drips (non-titrating)

Respiratory support experience including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management

Experience with isolation precautions

Comfortable working at a 1:5 patient ratio

Two professional references required for consideration

Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

The facility is a 703-bed acute care teaching hospital, the region's only Level I Trauma Center, and holds Magnet designation for nursing excellence

Certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center with 24/7 neurointerventional coverage and advanced endovascular capabilities

Affiliated with a medical school, providing an academic teaching hospital environment

The facility may call off travelers up to 1 shift per 2-week period
