Position Overview
The Retail Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of the retail store and dining areas, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient workflows, proper inventory management, and a safe and welcoming environment. This role is responsible for staff supervision, scheduling, training, merchandising, ordering, and maintaining operational standards while working closely with ownership and other departments.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesStaff Leadership & Human Resources
- Create and maintain employee schedules.
- Monitor attendance, including no-shows, call-outs, and late arrivals.
- Supervise employees and shift leaders in daily operations.
- Assign tasks and ensure employees remain productive throughout their shifts.
- Train new employees and shift leaders on policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Participate in the interview and hiring process.
- Ensure employees follow company protocols and policies.
- Monitor and enforce break compliance, ensuring employees clock out appropriately.
- Issue verbal and written warnings and manage disciplinary procedures.
- Maintain employee uniforms, name tags and appearance standards.
- Schedule staff meetings and prepare meeting agendas.
- Develop and update employee procedures and operational protocols.
Inventory Management & Ordering
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and records within the computer system.
- Order supplies, products, and retail merchandise in a timely manner.
- Monitor product dates and rotate inventory as needed.
- Maintain organized storage areas, including the retail back room, upstairs hallway, and inventory spaces.
- Coordinate ordering with office staff and management.
- Oversee milk orders, discount milk, and waste reports.
- Manage inventory and stocking of ice cream products and assist with wholesale orders.
- Monitor stock levels for brochures and promotional materials.
Merchandising & Facility Appearance
- Maintain attractive and well-stocked displays and shelves.
- Ensure the milk cooler is clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the dining room, counters, employee areas, and storage spaces.
- Dust displays and fixtures regularly.
- Create a positive customer environment and ensure guests leave with a favorable impression.
- Maintain safe and presentable decorations, seating areas, and workspaces.
Customer Service
- Address and resolve customer concerns and complaints.
- Handle escalated issues beyond the authority of supervisors.
- Ensure a welcoming and positive customer experience from arrival to departure.
Cash Handling & Systems Management
- Manage cash-on-hand procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting of inventory.
- Manage and troubleshoot the JPOS computer system.
Communication & Coordination
- Maintain positive working relationships with truck drivers, vendors, office staff, and other departments.
- Communicate building maintenance concerns and operational issues promptly.
- Coordinate ordering and product availability with vendors and internal teams.
- Work collaboratively with ownership and management regarding hiring, purchasing, and operational decisions.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workplace.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and safety procedures.
- Monitor employee adherence to operational standards and expectations.
Qualifications
- Previous retail, food service, or operations management experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Experience with inventory control and ordering processes.
- Ability to train, coach, and develop employees.
- Comfortable using POS systems and inventory software.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
