Overview
Join our vibrant team as a Toddler After-School Assistant and play a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for young children,aged 18 months to 3 years, in our after school program. In this energetic position, you will support early childhood development by implementing age-appropriate activities, support appropriate behavior, and ensuring children’s well-being through attentive supervision and first aid readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Child Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all children during after-school hours.
- Engagement: Facilitate and participate in activities that encourage creativity, exploration, and social interaction among children.
- Support: Encourage positive social interactions.
- Communication: Maintain open and positive communication with children, parents, and staff.
- Environment Maintenance: Help keep the classroom and play areas tidy and organized, promoting a welcoming atmosphere.
- Behavior Management: Implement and uphold the Montessori principles of respect and kindness in guiding children’s behavior.
- Physical Demands: include kneeling, crouching, and sitting on the floor; must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
- A genuine love for children and a passion for education.
- Previous experience working with children preferred, especially in a Montessori or similar setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and engage positively with families.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain).
