Center Park Group is a home-building company operating in the Southeast. Our team combined has over 40 years of experience in the home building industry. Through our experience and resources, we have been fortunate to establish a close knit, well rounded team of individuals with ambitious goals and an eagerness to grow the company.
We are pleased to announce that we are growing our team by adding a Residential Architect to lead the creative direction of our architectural design portfolio.
This is a design-forward role. The ideal candidate is a licensed architect who sees residential architecture as both a craft and an art — someone who can take a community from concept sketch to buildable, beautiful plan sets. You will be the creative voice of our Architectural Team, shaping the character, curb appeal, and livability of every home we build, while ensuring our plans meet the highest standards of technical quality and code compliance.
About the Role
As our Residential Architect, you will own the design vision for Center Park's growing portfolio of home plans and communities. You will originate new prototype designs, elevate and refresh existing plans, and serve as the licensed authority on our architectural documents. You will collaborate closely with our contracted engineers, Purchasing and Estimating teams, and field staff to ensure that great design carries all the way through construction.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new prototype home plans, elevations, and community product lines from concept through construction documents.
- Serve as architect of record on applicable projects; seal and sign architectural documents as required for permitting in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and surrounding states.
- Reimagine and modernize existing plans for new business development, market positioning, and evolving buyer preferences.
- Direct exterior elevation design, streetscape variety, and material/color coordination to strengthen the identity of each community.
- Review and approve work produced by contracted architects, engineers, and drafting staff for design intent, quality, and consistency.
- Manage the currency and integrity of construction drawing sets, coordinating with the Pre-Construction Team to publish current versions to project management platforms.
Additional Responsibilities
- Partner with Purchasing and Estimating to align design decisions with cost, material availability, and value engineering opportunities — without sacrificing design quality.
- Track design changes from pre-construction through RFP and prototype phases and communicate impacts to affected departments.
- Mentor drafting staff and help establish design standards, Revit templates, and documentation best practices for the team.
Required Licensure & Education
- Active architect license (Registered Architect) in good standing with the South Carolina Board of Architectural Examiners, with authority to seal and sign architectural documents in South Carolina — required. NCARB certificate holders eligible for South Carolina licensure by reciprocity will be considered, with SC licensure obtained prior to sealing documents.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a NAAB-accredited program preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
Required Experience
- 3+ years of professional architectural experience, with significant experience in residential design (production homebuilding experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated design portfolio showcasing residential work — elevations, floor plans, and built projects.
- Proficiency in Revit required; experience establishing or managing Revit standards a plus.
- Working knowledge of the IRC and applicable building codes; familiarity with South Carolina permitting processes a plus.
- On-site field experience or a background in civil and commercial design is a plus.
