Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit
- Assist healthcare providers during procedures such as biopsies, injections, phlebotomy, and other clinical interventions
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient encounters, diagnoses (ICD coding), and treatment plans
- Support medical administrative functions including appointment scheduling, patient intake, insurance verification, and medical record management
- Conduct basic laboratory tasks such as specimen collection and processing for tests like blood draws (phlebotomy)
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring a welcoming environment
- Maintain clinical supplies inventory, sterilize equipment, and uphold infection control protocols in compliance with healthcare standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar medical office setting with knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and electronic health records management
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is required to ensure readiness for emergency situations
- Familiarity with dermatology practices, hospital medicine, urgent care environments, or emergency medicine is highly desirable
- Ability to perform phlebotomy accurately and efficiently; inpatient or trauma center experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge, ICD coding procedures, medication administration protocols, and medical documentation standards
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and service excellence
- Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or outpatient clinics
